Joint Venture to Establish a Subscriber-based
Internet
Division Of PTCB'S God's Learning Channel
to Broadcast Live and
Video-On-Demand Programming
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July
29, 2002--Media & Entertainment.com,
Inc. (OTCBB:MEDE), a provider of media
delivery on the Internet, and PTCB's God's
Learning Channel, a provider of Christian
television programming, jointly announced
today that they entered into a definitive
agreement to offer satellite-based audio
and video streaming media services to
be made available on a membership-only
subscription basis for GLC's 4.2 million
cable customers. Media & Entertainment
will distribute continuous, high-speed
streaming media services directly to GLC
viewers through its global multicast network.
GLC will provide streaming media content
through Media & Entertainment's network
using NetDVD Streamshare, the foundation
media delivery software technology to
be deployed in each of the ISPs' last-mile
networks.
"We have partnered with GLC to distribute
their streaming content to an even broader
global audience," said Roger Paglia,
Chief Executive Officer of Media &
Entertainment. "As streaming media
proliferates across the Internet and consumes
ever-increasing amounts of bandwidth,
more efficient broadband distribution
methods will be needed to bring content
closer to Internet users. Our NetDVD Streamshare's
scalable methodology has been designed
to ensure reliable delivery of content
to web viewers worldwide. In addition,
the prospects of this venture will validate
the exceptional opportunities that exist
in the online marketplace for new and
innovative broadcast services."
The new streaming service will be deployed
to GLC's existing customer base in mid-August
2002 at an expected membership-only introductory
rate of $4.95 per month. The website,
WWW.GLCNETWORK.COM will provide content
from PTCB and its partners. Media &
Entertainment will then distribute the
content via its global multicast network,
which will deploy NetDVD Streamshare software
to stream the content to customers.
"We are extremely excited to present
to our current customers a website that
offers unfettered access to many hours
of high quality Christian programming.
This joint venture with Media & Entertainment
further extends our worldwide outreach
by making available our video library
to an expanded global audience,"
said Jeff Welter, head of programming
for Prime Time Christian Broadcasting.
"NetDVD Streamshare will significantly
improve the experience and level of user-interactivity
for GLC's customer base," added Nana
Yalley, Chief Information Officer of Media
& Entertainment. "Our methodology
really compliments the unique programming
that GLC has to offer and enables us to
further enhance our ability to provide
an exciting and engaging streaming experience
to their customers."
The equal sharing of revenues from the
joint venture is anticipated to constitute
Media & Entertainment's initial revenue
stream and help to lay a solid foundation
for profitability in the foreseeable future.
