Internet Video Streaming Technology Now
as Clear as Broadcast Television
Business Editors/Entertainment and High-Tech
Writers
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22,
2002--Media and Entertainment.com Inc.
(OTC BB: MEDE), a communications services
company with a cutting edge technology
for the entertainment industry, Monday
announced that its advanced Internet streaming
video product, NetDVD, is now live and
the company is offering viewers a first-hand
look at the new technology at www.nexcode.tv.
Media and Entertainment.com believes that
its NetDVD is the world's fastest and
clearest real-time video and audio compression
methodology.
Several times faster than any other currently
available delivery system, NetDVD permits
the superb quality delivery of compressed
digital content at between 24-30 frames
per second, along with the optional 5.1
Dolby digital(TM) surround sound for either
live video streaming or VOD.
"When you download our player/software
it turns your computer into a server,"
explained Caesar Collazo, chief technology
officer for Media and Entertainment. "You
feed directly from server to server. The
more people who use NetDVD, the more servers
we create on our network. The network
scales depending on popularity, growing
its potential exponentially.
"Take for instance a live pay-per-view
webcast event for over a million people.
The question is: What if each person was
a mirrored server? In theory you'd have
a flawless PPV event. That is unheard
of and that's why we believe this technology
is so extraordinary."
NetDVD is built around a proprietary process
that can be viewed using any popular player
available today, including Apple QuickTime(TM),
WindowsMedia(TM) Player and RealPlayer(TM).
The application also offers flexible and
scalable video streams to Pocket PCs,
PDAs, Macintosh and Linux systems.
"NetDVD is the only methodology processing
30 fps for both VOD and live streams.
People use the term 'live' too loosely
on the Internet. They claim to be streaming
live on the Internet when in reality they
are only delivering VOD. Most streaming
companies deliver blurry, mediocre and
less than desirable video quality.
"People have become accustomed to
the slideshow look of video streaming
and believe that it's the limit of technology,
that is until they see the NetDVD network.
No other company can match the speed and
clarity of our NetDVD system," stressed
Collazo.
"NetDVD's first target users will
be consumers that desire to control and
share multimedia content over any network
including the Internet," explained
Roger Paglia, chief executive officer
of Media and Entertainment.com Inc.
"Because our NetDVD application is
so flexible and is capable of delivering
packets via a LAN/WAN as well as over
various Intranet infrastructures, the
entertainment and broadcasting industries
and the corporate market also stand to
be early adapters. The market for this
type of technology is expected to be huge."
NetDVD allows Internet users to view all
types of video online in a full screen
format, with the same high speeds and
quality as television for the first time
ever, without the need for expensive high-speed
connections. The technology makes it possible
to produce highly scalable, fault tolerant
and fully integrated streaming of scheduled
and live video.
This high-performance solution offers
easy access, a convenient Web-based remote
management console and a flexible structure.
Above all, NetDVD provides broadcasters
with a secure solution to stream content
from source to client.
"Media and Entertainment.com expects
to generate revenues for itself from the
sale of modules that can be integrated
with NetDVD to create a massive solution,"
said Media and Entertainment.com's Chief
Information Officer Nana Yalley.
"People can purchase plug-ins such
as our corporate teleconferencing module
or a PPV module for tracking subscribers.
In addition, we are developing plug-ins
to facilitate the review and approval
of edits as well as the delivery of dailies.
"Our research and development division
is also in the alpha stages of a proprietary
software for the Avid(TM), Media100(TM),
and other PC/NT-based editing workstations,
scheduled for release in the very near
future."
